It is with great regret and
sorrow that I must notify you of the death of our classmate, Bill Parks, on
March 31, 2018, in Lake Ridge, VA, of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
Bill was predeceased by his
wife, Becky. He is
survived by their daughter, Terry Weaver; granddaughter, Rachel Willey; and
brothers, Larry and Herb.
Bill will be buried at Arlington
National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 22nd at 3pm.

WILLIAM IRA PARKS, JR. Colonel USA (Retired)
Retired Army Colonel William Ira Parks, Jr., age 80, of
Woodbridge, VA, passed away on March 31, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Colonel Parks served in the US Army for 30 years and retired in Washington DC
in July 1991.
He attended Mississippi State
for one year as an Electrical Engineering major and graduated from the United
States Military Academy, West Point, NY in 1961.
During his military career,
Colonel Parks graduated from the US Army Command and General Staff College,
and the US Army War College. He served as Special Forces A Detachment
Commander; Commander of 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment; Staff Officer in
the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff of Operations; Chief of the Army
Section of the Joint US Military Mission for Aid to Turkey; Director of the
European Directorate of the US Army Security Assistance Command.
His awards and decorations
include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit and two oak leaf
clusters, Soldiers Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Senior Parachute Badge, and
Ranger Tab.
Survived by his daughter Terry
Weaver of Woodbridge, VA, granddaughter Rachel Willey of Fairfax VA, and his
brothers Larry and Herb Parks of Grenada MS. He was preceded in death by his
parents William Ira and Zelma Snyder Parks, Grenada MS and his wife Rebecca
Terry Parks of Woodbridge VA.
Graveside services will be held
at Arlington National Cemetery on August 22, 2018 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association
