Jim entered West Point with our class, was found after first semester of Plebe year, joined the class of 1962 in August 1958, and resigned in June 1960. |
He graduated from American University in 1961 and, after graduating from the University of Michigan Law School in 1964,
practiced law in Washington, DC. In the 1970s, he was with the firm of Dwyer, Dawson, Timberlake and Lamb. Later he was a public defender in Washington. |
After retiring last year, he moved from Washington to Nassau. His marriage to Helen Arvilla Bentley ended in divorce. |
Survivors include four children, Elizabeth Rodgers of Woodbridge, VA; Margaret Dawson
of Centreville, VA; James Dawson of Winchester, VA; and William Dawson of Strasburg, VA; a sister, Jane Button Dawson of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren. |
