It is with great regret and sorrow that I must notify you of the death of our Classmate, Phil Yancey, on 30 April 2021 in Cynthiana, KY. 

Phil is survived by his wife, Carole; one son, Philip (Trish); three daughters, Debbie (Ed) Duffy, Phyllis (Jim) Cooper, and Katherine (Bill) Hanley; three step-sons, Scott Bishop, Clint Bishop, and Blake (Kimberly Rae) Bishop; eleven grandchildren, Tyler King, Lauren King, Corey Elam, Sarah Cooper, Camden Hanley, Angel Gill, Crystal Yancey, Veronica Yancey, Michael David Yancey, JD Soard, Kyla Soard; and several great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM, 5 May 2021, at the Ware Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 27 N, Cynthiana, KY  41031. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on 6 May 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, 302 E. Pike Street, Cynthiana, KY  41031. 

Burial will follow at Battle Grove Cemetery, 531 East Pike Street, Cynthiana, KY  41031. 

Condolences may be sent to Carole at 105 South Miller Street, Cynthiana, KY  41031-1605. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phil’s memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 302 E. Pike Street, Cynthiana, KY  41031.

George Philip Yancey (Phil)

February 5, 1940 - April 30, 2021

George Philip "Phil" Yancey, age 81, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Ashland, Ky., on February 5, 1940, to the late George W. and Georgia Wilby Yancey.

Phil was a retired 1961 West Point Graduate, a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, and was a retired processing engineer at 3M. He was also a member of the Promise Keepers at First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Carole Dean (Bishop) Yancey; one son, Philip (Trish) Yancey of Simpsonville; three daughters, Debbie (Ed) Duffy of Altamonte Springs Florida, Phyllis (Jim) Cooper, and Katherine (Bill) Hanley, both of Lexington; three step-sons, Scott Bishop of San Antonio Texas, Clint Bishop of Cynthiana, Blake (Kimberly Rae) Bishop of Paris; one sister, Ava Lou (Andy Land) Kinney of Ashland; eleven grandchildren, Tyler King, Lauren King, Corey Elam, Sarah Cooper, Camden Hanley, Angel Gill, Crystal Yancey, Veronica Yancey, Michael David Yancey, JD Soard, Kyla Soard; and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, with Ted Beam officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.
