 It is with great regret and
sorrow that we must inform you of the death of our Classmate, Quinn Pearl, on
April 30, 2013, at University Hospital in Louisville, KY, from injuries
resulting from an automobile accident.
Quinn is survived by his wife, Sherry; his children,
Tiffany Pearl Bell, Lyla Pearl Temple (David Temple), and Quinn F. Pearl III
(Ashley Barta Pearl); his sister, Lanna Hardy; his brother Nick Pearl; his
grandchildren, Phoebe Bell, Elizabeth Bell, Hadley Pearl, Lucas Temple, Graham
Pearl, and Katie Temple; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Quinn was buried on May 6, 2013 at Hebron Cemetery in
Shepherdsville, KY.

Week After Wreck
Pearl remembered fondly by family, friends

A 75-year-old Elizabethtown man has died after a vehicle collision April 24 put
him and his wife in the hospital.
Surrounded by family, retired attorney Quinn F. Pearl Jr. died Tuesday afternoon
at University Hospital in Louisville as medical professionals complied with his
living will request that his life not be sustained in such a state.
He and his wife, Sherry S. Pearl, 69, were hospitalized after Kentucky State
Police say their 2006 Nissan passenger vehicle entered the path of a Ford
pick-up truck while traveling north on Long Grove Road about four miles from
Cecilia.
Sherry Pearl remains at the hospital. She was listed in fair condition Wednesday
afternoon.
Quinn Pearl’s funeral is scheduled for noon Monday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett
Funeral Home in Radcliff. Burial is in Hebron Cemetery in Shepherdsville.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and continues at 10 a.m. Monday at the
funeral home.
Pearl was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served in
the military a few years before attending law school, becoming one of three
generations of lawyers in the family.
His brother, Nick, said Pearl was close to his three children and six
grandchildren.
“He was a great guy, tremendous family man, funny guy, great brother,” he said.
He also described his brother as a good lawyer, a good athlete and a good man.
Pearl also was an avid University of Louisville basketball fan. The brothers
watched the team’s championship win together.
Nick Pearl said his brother never recovered consciousness or improved after the
wreck.
“He died at the accident site, really,” he said.
Family members congregated around his brother’s hospital bed during the last few
days, celebrating his life, Nick said.
“He had a great life,” he said.
Dwight Preston, whose office was next to Pearl’s on Public Square in
Elizabethtown until Pearl retired a year ago, said he had known Quinn Pearl
since the early 1970s, when the man began practicing law locally.
He said he knew Pearl as a client, working opposite of him in civil cases and
assisting each other in civil cases. Most importantly, he knew Pearl as a
friend.
“He was a genuine friend and generally lit up the room when he came in, always
smiling and always had a joke or two,” he said. “It’s a great loss and he’ll be
missed by the legal community and his family and my sorrows go with them.”
Carol Moll, one of Preston’s secretaries, also remembered Pearl with affection.
“Attorneys are very busy and very important, and I’m just a secretary, but he
would always take the time to talk to me and make me feel special,” she said.
Moll said Pearl was a very nice man and she was upset by the news of his death.
“He would usually end up making me laugh,” she said. “He was so funny. He was
just a wonderful guy.”

Quinn F. Pearl Jr., 75, Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
Pearl was raised in Lebanon. He attended Centre College for two years before
receiving an appointment to West Point Military Academy from which he
graduated in 1961. He obtained his law degree from the University of
Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 1969. In 1970, he moved to
Hardin County where he set up his first law practice in Radcliff. He loved all
people and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Quinn F. Pearl Sr. and Clara B
Pearl.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Sherry Sanford Pearl; his children,
Tiffany Pearl Bell, Lyla Pearl Temple (David Temple), and Quinn F. Pearl III
(Ashley Barta Pearl); his sister, Lanna Hardy; his brother Nick Pearl; his
grandchildren, Phoebe Bell, Elizabeth Bell, Hadley Pearl, Lucas Temple, Graham
Pearl and Katie Temple; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, May 6, at
Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with burial in Hebron Cemetery
in Shepherdsville. Rev. Arnold Moon will officiate.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, May 6 from 5-8 p.m. and on
Monday, May 6 beginning at 10 a.m.
