It is with great regret and sorrow that I must notify you of the death of our classmate, Dan Minor, on August 11, 2023 in Athens, GA, as a result of Parkinson's/Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).

Dan is survived by his son, Napier; his daughter, Marion Mullinax; and grandchildren, Celeste (Tushar Gupta) Minor, Christina Minor, Paul Mullinax and James Mullinax.  Dan was predeceased by his wife, Berkeley.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church, 3195 S Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA  30605.

Burial will follow in the St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to Napier Minor, 445 Greystone Terrace, Athens, GA  30606.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Dan’s memory be sent to the UGA Foundation at The Georgia Museum of Art, Attn: Memorial Gifts honoring Dan Minor, 90 Carlton Street, Athens, GA  30602.

Henry Daniels Minor

Henry Daniels Minor, Jr. 85, husband of the late Berkeley Smith Minor, died on Friday, August 11, 2023. Born in Macon, Ga. he was the son of the late Henry Daniels Minor, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Creecy Minor Clark. Survivors include his two children: Napier Minor of Athens, Ga. and Marion Mullinax of Watkinsville, Ga.; siblings: Jo Brokenshire and David (Brenda) Minor and four grandchildren: Celeste (Tushar Gupta) Minor, Christina Minor, Paul Mullinax and James Mullinax. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church.

Danny Minor was inducted in the Macon Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.  He played on the final Lanier HS football team, “The Poets” as a running back Dan was one of the 1955’s: All American, All-Region, All-Southern. “Danny Minor was the most sensational player in Region One. He established a new region record in rushing of 1,021 yards, and as a junior he just missed the region mark in pass receiving.. Lanier fans will long remember him for his breathtaking runs and will to win…His rushing mark stood as a school record for 13 years before being broken… He was a member of the last undefeated Army team, the 1958 squad that went 8-0-1 and featured Heisman Trophy winner Pete Dawkins. That season marked the last time that Army defeated Notre Dame. a 14-2 win over the Irish vaulted Army to a No. 1 national ranking. (Bobby Pope – Sports@macon.com May 12, 2014). Dan played two years of varsity football at West Point until a back injury sidelined him.

Dan graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, receiving his BS and was stationed in Germany working with Hawk missile batteries. He served in the US Army, worked with Dupont, Georgia Sportswear, and was a broker and member of the Chairman’s counsel at Smith Barney to name a few. Dan was a member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church.

Dan was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
