Pat and Gerry Carroll were our gracious hosts; Jerry White made all the arrangements; and Bob Kewley set up the golf matches and foursomes/threesomes. All the
men, except Dan Barney and Ed Brown, had three days of great golf at three different, magnificent courses. Nine of the women – Gerry Carroll, Maureen Hartford,
Button Hyde, Lonie Kewley, Mary Looram, Carol Jean MacLean, Suzie Steege, Cathy White, and Georgia Witherspoon – also played golf.
Other than the golf, along with all the attendant side bets and good natured harassing, highlights of the four-day event were cocktails and cookout at the Carroll’s
home on Lake Charlevoix in Boyne City on Monday, cocktails on the Carroll’s yacht at the Boyne City Marina on Tuesday, a trip to Harbor Springs on the Carroll’s yacht on
Wednesday, and cocktails and dinner at the Beach House on Deer Lake on Thursday.
The weather could not have been better. Every day it was sunny and unseasonably warm for northern Michigan in late June – daytime highs in the high 80’s with
night time lows in the mid 60’s. Needless to say, everyone had a fabulous time and appreciate the efforts of the Carroll’s, Kewley’s, and White’s.
